Day 3: Downtown Farmer's Market

Amazing! Like the Greenville Farmer's Market on super steroids!

The market takes place in Pioneer Park downtown and has fresh produce, cheese, meat, flowers, art, crafts, desserts, performers, the list goes on! We got some yummy local honey butter, local salsa verde, tomatoes (crossing my fingers they're good - only ONE booth had tomatoes!) and a University of Utah collar for Lilly :) Enjoy the sights:

After the market, we crossed the street from the park and stumbled upon Bruges Waffles and Frites, a teeny tiny authentic Belgian place that literally serves only waffles, fries, and a sandwich called the Machine Gun. I got vanilla waffles topped with fresh sliced peaches and creme fraiche and they were incredibly delicious. The waffles were crispy on the outside, warm on the inside the the freshness of the toppings totally made the dish. After we got home we saw that Bruges' was featured on Man vs. Food - check it out here. The man in the video was the guy who served us!
They were so yummy I forgot to take a pic before digging in!
Shay, a true man's man, got the Machine Gun sandwich - a crusty baguette filled with a spicy lamb sausage and topped with a load of fries and a homemade mayonnaise sauce. Yes, it is a carb/calorie bomb but is sooo good! It was also featured on Man vs Food - click here to see the Machine Gun in action!

The Machine Gun

About to dig in!

We'll need to ride about 15 miles to burn off all those calories, but man it was worth it! :)
